Twitter’s Official Badge
Twitter stated on Wednesday morning that when it debuts its new $8 service with the blue verification badge, it would add a ‘Official’ label to a select group of verified accounts, including significant media outlets and governments.
Esther Crawford, Twitter’s early stage products executive, had tweeted that “Not all previously verified accounts will get the “Official” label and the label is not available for purchase. Accounts that will receive it include government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and some public figures,”
Elon Musk, a billionaire, is maintaining his $8 charge for Twitter’s coveted blue badge despite harsh criticism. Elon Musk recently tweeted, “Trash me all day, but it’ll cost $8.”
