Elon Musk continues to raise his voice regarding free speech and no-censorship. Along with buying Twitter, he had announced to bring back the banned accounts on the platform. Even before the Twitter deal, he has been raising his voice against censorship, but in some cases he has a different opinion. Especially regarding India.
In an interview with BBC, Twitter boss Elon Musk has talked about India and censorship. He told that social media rules in India are strict. The website cannot give the same freedom to Indian users as it is available to American users and other western countries.
What did Musk say about India?
Musk told that Twitter sometimes censors and blocks content in India. He said that if the company does not follow the rules of India, then its employees can be sent to jail.
In the interview, Musk told, ‘What will be seen on social media? There are strict rules regarding this in India. And we cannot go against the rules of one country. If we only have this option that either our people will go to jail or we will have to follow the rules.
Musk has been opposing censorship
Although Musk did not say that he was talking about any rule or law. He said this when he was asked about blocking BBC posts. Twitter used to have censorship and content moderation earlier also. Musk has been opposing it. Because of this, Musk had told Vijaya Gadde a lot in a meeting.
Elon Musk has said all these things in an interview given to BBC. Musk completed the Twitter deal in October last year for $44 billion. He had bought stakes in Twitter in April itself and then offered to buy the company.
