There was high drama outside the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-i-insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in Lahore. Police had come to his residence to arrest him. However fanatical supporters and party workers of PTI arrived in full force to resist any such attempt.
High Drama outside Imran Khan’s Lahore residence
Arrest drama which happened outside Khan’s posh Zaman Park Home was resplendent to the scene straight out of a masala Lollywood Movie with caravan of police vehicles gheraoing his home. Scores of PTI workers threw themselves in front of Police vehicles as word spread out like wild fire that Police was their to arrest Khan.

PTI workers started pouring up in large numbers , chanted slogans and camped outside his residence.
Massive Crowds that swelled outside Imarn Khan’s home looked more like 1992 World Cup Victory Home Coming for Khan, than a desperate protest. Cricketer turned politicians supporters were waving flags, cheering on the streets, carrying banners as songs blazed loudly in the background. It was a mad rush at Zaman Park and Imran’s supporters were seen removing and tossing aside road blocks.
Crowd of protestors also included women and children. PTI Chairman Musarat Jamsaid Cheema stated that entire nation will rally behind Imran Khan and would come out on street , if Government tries to arrest Imran Khan.
Police had come in full force in long line of vehicles along with prisoner transport vans.
Pakistan Election Commission’s Taskakhana Verdict
Police came to Imran Khan’s residence to arrest him in order to execute Tashakhana verdict.This case has been pending since October, when Election Commission of Pakistan had booked Imran Khan and announced Tashakhana Verdict in the aftermath of protests which had crippled Pakistan.
Imran Khan has been on bail on medical grounds after he had received gunshot injuries during a rally in Wazirabad last year.
Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Court’s Judge Raja Jawed had earlier stated that Imran Khan was given enough time to appear before the court but he had failed to do so. However Imran Khan’s lawyer argued and urged the court to grant him one – time exemption from in – person appearance as Khan had not recovered from Gun Shot.
However, an infuriated judge had refused to accept the plea from Imran Khan’s counsel and ordered that Imran Khan should appear before the court. Further stated that court does not give any relief to powerful person like Imran Khan , when it does not provide relief to a common person.
Judge also refused to extend the interim bail , leaving Imran Khan vulnerable to arrest by the police.
