Mhamane and his son drowned while playing at a beach in Oman yesterday, while his nine-year-old daughter is missing and rescuers are searching for her, the local police said.
The couple and their two children lived in Dubai, and were visiting Oman for a day-long trip, said Mhamane’s brother.
The moment calamity struck the family was captured on video by another tourist, which shows the two children, Shruti and Shreyas being swept away by a strong wave while playing in the water. Their father soon followed them into the water in a bid to save them, but he also drowned.
The bodies of the man and his son have been recovered. Rescuers are still searching for the 9-year-old girl.
Mhamane had been working as a sales manager in a Dubai-based firm.
Tehsildar Jeevan Bansode, from the town where the family belonged, told the news on the telephone that their relatives have gone to Oman after receiving information about the tragedy.
