Pervez Musharraf: Former President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) passed away after a prolonged illness, at a hospital in Dubai, news agency ANI tweeted citing Pakistan’s Geo News. As per local media reports, his family has stated that the former our-star general succumbed to Amyloidosis. He was hospitalised a few weeks ago. He was 79.

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf died on Sunday in Dubai after prolonged illness.He was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease Amyloidosis in 2018. He had left for Dubai in March and has not returned to Pakistan since. Fawad Hussain, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, took to Twitter to extend his condolences and wrote, “Pervez Musharraf passed away, he was a great person, always Pakistan first was his thought and ideology. May God have mercy on him.”
Last year, Pervez Musharraf’s family had shared his health update, revealing he is at a stage where recovery is not possible. “He is not on the ventilator. Has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks due to a complication of his ailment (Amyloidosis). Going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning. Pray for ease in his daily living,” the family said.
About Pervez Musharraf
A former Pakistani politician, four-star general Pervez Musharraf became the 10th president of Pakistan. He was born in Delhi during the British Raj, but grew up in Lahore and Istanbul. He was promoted to four-star general by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1998, making Musharraf the head of the armed forces.
Musharraf is known for leading the Kargil infiltration which ended up with a war between India and Pakistan in 1999.
