G-20 Summit: It is now official that Premier Li Qiang will represent Chinese President Xi Jinping at the September 9–10 global event in New Delhi in place of Xi Jinping.
After attending the 43rd ASEAN conference in Jakarta from September 5-7, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will, according to reliable sources, travel straight to New Delhi. Although the Ministry of External Affairs is still awaiting official notice, flight plans for the VVIP aircraft have been filed.
The Modi government is concerned about China publishing the so-called standard map of the Communist nation and adding portions of Aksai Chin and the entirety of Arunachal Pradesh as part of its cartographic expansion, even if it has been mum about the reasons why President Xi did not attend the G-20 conference.
Questioned for new standard map
Jinping’s attendance at the power summit in Delhi had been seriously questioned given the timing of the map’s release. Every year, Beijing publishes the standard map, but this is the first time that New Delhi has raised a serious objection to the map’s problems and rejected the assertions of the Communist country.
Unclear reasons exist for China to have released the disputed map and increased its exposure through its propaganda apparatus. In a brief conversation with the Chinese leader at the just finished BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced his deep worry for the situation along the Line of Actual Control.
In order to push for the normalisation of relations that have been strained since PLA belligerence in East Ladakh in May 2020, Beijing is thought to have desired a bilateral meeting with India on the sidelines of the summit. But the formal meeting was unable to happen because of PM Modi’s schedule constraints.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) must withdraw its forces from Aksai Chin, and Indian Army patrol powers must be reinstated in Depsang Bulge and CNN junction in Demchok, according to PM Modi’s statement, which has angered the Chinese president.
China has made it clear through this map that it views India as an enemy and will exert coercive pressure on New Delhi as a result of its tight links to the United States and the Quad countries. This is ahead of the G20 summit. In addition to arming its ally state Pakistan to exert pressure on India’s western borders, it will continue to apply military pressure along the whole 3488 km LAC.
