G20 Virtual Summit

G20 Virtual Summit: Amidst safety concerns, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a thorough investigation into the rapidly expanding field of artificial intelligence (AI) and requested that the Group of 20 (G20) countries collaborate to find a solution. In his speech at the virtual G20 Summit today, Prime Minister Modi stated that AI should be created with the needs of humanity in mind.

“AI should reach people, and it must be safe for the society,” PM Modi said. “Deepfake is a big concern. AI has to be safe for the public,” he said.

Concerns about the improper use of AI by criminals have arisen in recent weeks due to deepfake videos that have targeted certain actors and social media personalities.

Affect of AI:

Artificial Intelligence has steadily affected every industry and transformed the way businesses operate. Regarding the fighting between Israel and Gaza, Prime Minister Modi stated that it is crucial to prevent the battle from turning into a regional war.

Upon the conclusion of this year’s G20 Leaders’ Summit, which was held in the nation’s capital on September 9–10, significant advancements have been made with regard to primary G20 objectives and results.

Among the main expected outcomes of COP28 are, for example, the G20 consensus to triple the worldwide capacity of renewable energy by 2030 and to double the global pace of energy efficiency improvement by 2030. These commitments were made for the first time by G20 Leaders in Delhi.

CCUS projects:

Both nations pledged to carry out five sizable CCUS projects and endorsed the G20 Leaders’ Declaration to push efforts to treble the world’s renewable energy capacity by 2030 in the US-China Joint Statement, which was released on November 14.

Carbon capture, utilisation, and storage is referred to as CCUS. These initiatives use technology that makes it possible to lower CO2 emissions from large point sources, such refineries, power stations, and other industrial locations.
