In 1945, on 6 August, the United States dropped an atomic bomb in the city of Hiroshima. And just after three days which is on August 9, the second bomb was dropped in Nagasaki.
The US dropped an atomic bomb in the city of Hiroshima by an American B-29 bomber during the second world war. Notably that nuclear bomb was named ‘Little Boy’. The explosion was that much huge that it wiped out almost 90% of the city killing thousands of people, killing approximately 80,000 people directly, and leaving another 35,000 injured.
However, It led to more than 60,000 casualties by the end of the year from the effects of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima.
There were more than 90,000 buildings in Hiroshima, and after the bomb blast, astonishingly only 28,000 were left. Apart from the casualities, the Japan also suffered from terrible burns and radiation sickness.
But Japan did not surrender in World War II. Emperor of Japan Hirohito announced unconditional surrender in World War II by radio on August 15, giving information about the destructive power of a new and barbaric bomb.
Today it has been seventy-five years since the death of precious lives, which is said to be hundred-thousands in number, by a single atomic bomb. At that time, the city of Hiroshima, which was abandoned immediately, has made a powerful recovery as a world-renowned peace city, through the tireless efforts of its predecessors.
United Nations chief, Antonio Guterres, in a tweet said, “…May the suffering, stories and resilience of survivors unite us in action to free the world of nuclear weapons.”
”On the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, let’s recall and reaffirm our commitment to peace,” the UNESCO tweeted.
