Titan: The United States Coast Guard claim they have found possible human remains aboard the Titan submersible.
This announcement comes nearly a week after experts said the submersible had imploded in the North Atlantic. All five people aboard the Titan submersible died in the incident. The deal included the CEO of the company that led the expedition to watch the ruins of the Titanic.
The company charged $250,000 from the passengers which included two Pakistanis.
The Coast Guard say they are investigating the cause of the implosion.
Investigation on
CNN says the presumed remains and the fragments of Titan arrived at a Canadian pier on Wednesday, June 28.
Pelagic Research, the company that operated the vehicle which brought up Titan’s remains, told CNN that it has “successfully completed” its offshore work.
Photos published by the Canadian press showed a white panel, bigger than the two men handling it, and several wires and cords being taken off Horizon Anchor, the ship handling the debris. According to previous reports, Titan was 22 feet long.
Cause of implosion
Pelagic Research directed all the queries regarding the Titan implosion to the Coast Guard. CNN says the company will hold a press conference in East Aurora, New York once its team has regrouped.
The company said its team members “have been working around the clock now for 10 days, through the physical and mental challenges of this operation, and are anxious to finish the mission and return to their loved ones.”
According to CNN, the military branch of the Coast Guard convened a Marine Board of Investigation to probe what caused the implosion and to offer possible recommendations “to pursue civil or criminal sanctions as necessary.”
Captain Jason Neubauer said there’s still a substantial work to be done to ascertain the causes of the implosion.
