Twitter: Following a week of uncertainty on the company’s future under new owner Elon Musk, Twitter will inform employees through email on Friday about whether they have been laid off, temporarily closing its headquarters, and restricting staff access.
The social network business informed its employees via email that it would notify them of any personnel reductions by Friday at 9 a.m. Pacific time (12 p.m. EDT/1600 GMT).

The email, obtained by Reuters, stated that “in an effort to put Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the unpleasant process of decreasing our global staff on Friday.”
To “help safeguard the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data,” Twitter stated its offices will be temporarily closed and all credential access will be suspended.
Twitter employees who are not affected by the layoffs will be informed via their company email accounts, according to the social media platform.
The memo stated that employees who have been let go will receive information on the following steps to their personal email addresses.
The announcement of layoffs brings to an end a week of purges by Musk during which he sought significant cost reductions and imposed a combative new work ethic throughout the social media giant.
He had previously fired the CEO and the top financial and legal officials from the corporation, reorganising the senior ranks. Over the course of the previous week, several executives left, including those in charge of the company’s marketing, advertising, and human resources departments.
The long-anticipated layoffs have cooled Twitter’s renownedly open corporate culture, which is admired by its staff.
Hundreds of users flocked to the company’s Slack channels to say farewell shortly after the email arrived in Twitter employees’ inboxes, two employees told Reuters. The sources claimed that Musk was invited to join the channel.

Please go home if you are in or heading to a workplace, Twitter advised in an email on Thursday.
According to two persons familiar with the situation and an internal Slack message examined by Reuters, Musk has also instructed Twitter Inc.’s teams to find up to $1 billion in annual infrastructure cost savings.
