The Islamabad High Court on Friday granted protection from arrest to former Prime Minister Imran Khan till May 17 in any case that has been registered after May 9.
Minutes before this, the High Court had granted bail to Khan for two weeks in a corruption case.
A bench of Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz heard the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
A day earlier, the Supreme Court on Tuesday termed Khan’s arrest from the High Court premises as illegal.
Hearing a separate petition, the court granted bail to Khan till May 17 in all cases registered after May 9.
Khan had filed a plea to provide details of all the cases filed against him along with a request for bail in those cases.
In the petition, Khan had told the court that he was not aware of the violence, but cases have been registered against him. While granting bail, Justice Aurangzeb also remarked that the violent incidents that took place in the wake of Khan’s arrest should be condemned.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said the government would respect the court’s order and would not arrest Khan in the cases in which he has been granted bail.
