The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported that a 6.2 Richter scale earthquake struck Indonesia on Friday north of Halmahera.
The earthquake was felt at 01:32:47 IST, according to the NSC, and it originated at a depth of 99 kilometres.
“Earthquake of Magnitude:6.2, Occurred on 24-02-2023, 01:32:47 IST, Lat: 3.28 & Long: 128.36, Depth: 99 Km, Location: North of Halmahera, Indonesia,” NCS tweeted.
So far, there have been no reported casualties. Further information is awaited.
Only two weeks after major earthquakes struck the area, two earthquakes rattled Turkey’s southernmost Hatay province on Monday, causing at least eight injuries, according to Anadolu Agency, quoting Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.
