International Cat Day: Every year on August 8th, people worldwide celebrate International Cat Day. It is a chance to appreciate cats, inform people about their significance, and remind them of all that this lovely species offer the world. Cat ownership has a beneficial impact on people’s health, enhancing mental and physical functionality, increasing mental health, and lowering stress levels.
History
The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) established the event in 2002 to increase public knowledge of cats’ needs and preferences and to encourage cat owners to develop creative solutions for deepening their ties with their pets.
In 2020, International Cat Care received the responsibility for maintaining International Cat Day. Since 1958, the organization—a British non-profit—has worked to enhance the health and wellbeing of domestic cats worldwide.
Significance
For cat lovers, International Cat Day is very important. Not every cat has the good fortune to reside in opulent homes, unwind on plush couches, and eat delectable cuisine. There are numerous stray cats that receive poor care and sometimes abuse.
Therefore, this day is significant for all true animal lovers, not just cat lovers. International Cat Day is a significant event for individuals who want to care for and safeguard these animals.
