The escalation of violence resulted in grave concern for India, and again, it urged Iran not to let things go out of hand, as the escalation may give rise to a wider regional conflict, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in its statement. India urged Iran to exercise restraint and protect civilian life while finding a solution to the problems through dialogue and diplomacy rather than embracing hostility and arrogance. The MEA has also counselled Indian nationals against non-essential travel to Iran and asked people living there to be vigilant.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addresses the issue with current situations, saying he did not agree to some of what Israel said but understood its right to defend itself and at the same time indicated that international humanitarian law must be followed. The minister then added the willingness of India to continue to talk to Iran and Israel, which only means a desire to act as a moderator rather than to take sides.
