Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: In a powerful statement following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed to respond decisively to Israel. Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike, prompting Khamenei to rally support for Palestinians and Lebanese groups fighting against Israeli aggression. During a sermon at a mosque in Tehran, Khamenei expressed his deep admiration for Nasrallah and emphasized the importance of continuing his legacy.
Khamenei’s Tribute to Hassan Nasrallah
In his Friday sermon, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei spoke passionately about Hassan Nasrallah, describing him as a “source of pride” for Iran and the Islamic world. He honored Nasrallah as a significant figure in the fight against oppression, saying, “Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah is no longer among us physically, but his path and his resonant voice are still with us.” Khamenei highlighted Nasrallah’s role as an articulate voice for the oppressed, extending his influence beyond Lebanon to Iran and the wider Arab world.
Khamenei took to social media to share his thoughts. He wrote, “I believe it’s necessary to honor my brother, my dear one… the shining jewel of Lebanon, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah.” He underscored that Nasrallah’s martyrdom would only enhance his influence and legacy.
Khamenei’s Call to Action Against Israel
Following the Israeli airstrikes that killed Nasrallah, Khamenei issued a call to action against Israel. He stated, “Our right to strike at the Israeli regime several days ago was totally legitimate.” This remark was made in the context of recent military actions against Hezbollah’s strongholds in Lebanon.
In his sermon, Khamenei also urged solidarity among Muslim countries. He warned that if the enemy succeeds in attacking one Islamic nation, others will follow.
Israel’s Military Actions
Israel’s military has been actively targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, including airstrikes on their intelligence headquarters in Beirut. These strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing efforts to weaken Hezbollah, especially after the loss of Nasrallah. The recent airstrikes have led to significant casualties and are seen as an escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
Khamenei noted that the recent military action taken by Iranian forces against Israel was just a small response to the larger crimes committed by the Israeli regime. He stated, “If needed, in the future, we will strike the Israeli regime again.”
Support for Palestinian Rights
In his sermon, Khamenei also voiced strong support for Palestinian rights, stating that the actions of Hamas are justified in their struggle against Israel. He remarked, “The Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, was a correct move. Palestinians had the right to do this.” Khamenei linked the fight for Palestinian rights to Hezbollah’s struggle against Israeli forces, portraying both groups as part of a larger resistance against a common enemy.
