Israel, Gaza conflict: India said it was a matter of “grave concern”

Israel, Gaza Conflict: Israel and the Palestinian armed group ‘Islamic Jihad’ have declared a ceasefire and a major Egyptian-mediated battle has been averted for the time being. However, for how long this ceasefire will last, nothing can be said. The announcement of the ceasefire raised hopes of an end to three days of Israeli bombings in Gaza that killed at least 44 Palestinians, including 15 children. At least 350 Palestinian civilians were also injured.

At a United Nations Security Council meeting on Monday, India called for resuming dialogue between Israel and Palestine, hours after a fresh round of attack on Gaza.

At the UN Security Council meeting on Monday, India said it was a matter of “grave concern” that the violence continued in Gaza despite diplomatic parleys.

Israel began heavy bombing in Gaza on Friday and several houses were destroyed in the Israeli bombing. There have also been allegations that Israel has also targeted refugee camps. At the same time, after the Israeli bombing, the ‘terrorist organization’, named Islamic Jihad, retaliated by firing rockets towards Israel. According to Israeli media, most of the rockets were shot down in the sky by the Israeli Defense System’s Iron Dome missile defense system and no one was seriously injured.

According to the Al Jazeera report, the Palestinian Gaza Strip is controlled by the US-designated terrorist organization Hamas and the population of this city is close to 2.1 million. The Gaza Strip is said to be the world’s most densely populated city, that is, a large number of people live in a very small area. Israel has had four major wars in the Gaza Strip since 2008, and sporadic conflicts last year-round, killing thousands of innocent people in Gaza City. Israel’s allegation, however, remains that terrorist organizations operating out of Gaza launch rockets under the guise of civilians, who are harmed in retaliation.

Gazapatti is five separate regions and together they have a population of about 21 lakhs. The names of these regions are Northern Gaza, Gaza City, Deir al-Bala, Khan Younis and Rafah. Situated on the Mediterranean coast on the border of Israel and Egypt, the Gaza Strip covers an area of approximately 365 square kilometers (141 sq mi). The only 41 km (25 mi) long area can take less than an hour to drive from Rafah in the south to Beit Hanoun in the north. Since 2008, Israel has waged four wars on Palestinian territory, killing thousands, mostly civilians. According to the United Nations, at least 261 people, including 67 children, were killed and more than 2,200 were injured in Israeli attacks during Israel’s last attack on Gaza. The 11-day attack damaged at least 51 education facilities, including 46 schools, two kindergartens, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) training center, and parts of the Islamic University of Gaza.
