Israel Palestine Conflict: Israel Claims Hamas Command Center Found Under Al Shifa Hospital, IDF Discovers Abducted Woman’s Body

Israel Palestine Conflict

Israel Palestine Conflict: The largest hospital in Gaza, Al Shifa Hospital, has an outdoor space where the Israeli military reported on Thursday (local time) that it discovered a tunnel shaft used by Hamas. In the midst of fierce combat between Israeli troops and Hamas terrorists, the UN organisation responsible for Palestinian refugees, however, said that no help will be sent to the Palestinians inside the beleaguered area.

Hamas Command Center Uncovered

Israel said that Hamas was using the Al Shifa Hospital as a command centre beneath the medical facility, and on Wednesday, it carried out an incursion inside the institution. Huge quantities of weapons, ammunition, and explosives were allegedly discovered by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) in Al Shifa and at the Al Quds Hospital, another Gazan medical facility. The Israeli military confirmed that a 65-year-old lady who was abducted by Hamas on October 7th had been found dead close to Al Shifa Hospital, CNN reported.

Yehudit Weiss Abducted by Hamas on the Day of Israel’s Attack

On the day when Israel was attacked, Hamas terrorists abducted the woman, Yehudit Weiss, from the Be’eri neighbourhood. The Hostages and Missing Person’s Families Forum states that her husband Shmuel perished in the October 7 Hamas attack. The US, an ally of Israel, declared it would not divulge or clarify the intelligence information it had obtained regarding Hamas operations at Al Shifa Hospital. When questioned about whether Israel had given any intelligence on the raid at Al Shifa, White House spokeswoman John Kirby responded, “I am not going to talk about specific intelligence that may pass between the two of us,” according to news agency Reuters.

Counterstatement from Hamas

Hamas dismissed accusations that it was exploiting Al Shifa Hospital for military training and condemned the Israeli strike on the hospital. The group claimed it “was a repetition of a blatantly false narrative, demonstrated by the weak and ridiculous performances of the occupation army spokesman”.

Gaza Suffers as Energy Depletion Hits Telecom Services Again

Once more, communication services in Gaza were unavailable due to the depletion of all energy sources supporting the two telecom companies. Additionally, UNRWA, the UN organisation for Palestinian refugees, stated that it was unable to contact with the truck convoys using the Rafah border crossing, making it impossible to bring aid deliveries to Gaza due to the lack of fuel supply. Fuel supplies into Gaza have been refused by Israel on the grounds that it might be used by Hamas to intensify its armed activities against Israeli forces.
