Israel-Palestine Conflict: Amid an ongoing conflict, Israel has established an emergency unity government. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to create a war cabinet with former defense minister and centrist opposition party leader Benny Gantz, focusing entirely on the ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza. This move comes as the violence continues to escalate in the region.

The U.S. President, Joe Biden, condemned the recent attack on southern Israel by Hamas gunmen, characterizing it as “sheer evil” and issuing a warning that appeared to target Hamas’s supporters, including Iran.

The death toll in Israel has risen to 1,200, with over 2,700 people wounded, as a result of the Hamas assault. While Israel deployed tanks and armored vehicles north of Gaza, where fighting is ongoing, Hamas’s armed wing, the Al Qassam Brigades, claimed they were still fighting inside Israel.

Retaliatory strikes on Gaza have killed 1,055 people and wounded 5,184, according to Palestinian officials. The United Nations reported that nine of its staff members, working for the Palestinian refugee agency, were among the casualties. Israel has vowed swift retaliation for what it considers the deadliest attack in its history, which resulted in numerous casualties in the region.
