Israel Palestine Conflict: Over 9,480 Gazans, primarily women and children, have died as a result of Israeli bombardment, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which is managed by Hamas. The conflict between Israel and Palestine is still ongoing.
The Human Toll
Additionally, Hamas claimed that when an Israeli strike hit a UN school, at least 12 people were killed. Over thirty individuals were killed by an Israeli strike on a refugee camp in central Gaza on Saturday. According to a Reuters story, which cited unnamed sources close to the group’s leadership, Hamas, the group that controls Gaza, has gathered weaponry, missiles, food, and medical supplies in anticipation of trapping Israel in a protracted conflict.
Hamas’s Strategic Preparations
According to sources who spoke to Reuters, the Palestinian militant group is certain that its fighters can fend for themselves for months in a network of tunnels built out well beneath the Palestinian enclave and impede Israeli forces using urban guerrilla tactics. Additionally, the group informed Israel and the US during the hostage talks mediated by Qatar that it intended to advocate for the release of thousands of Palestinian inmates in return for Israeli captives.
International Diplomacy in Action
IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, meantime, visited Gaza on Sunday to conduct an evaluation with top officers. Late on Saturday, Hamas released a statement declaring that until Israeli troops permit injured Palestinians to flee the Gaza Strip and obtain medical attention in Egypt, the continuing evacuation of foreigners from Gaza will cease. While on a diplomatic visit in the Middle East, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasised that the US is in favour of “humanitarian pauses” in the fighting and bombing in Gaza in order to stop the deaths of civilians.
Global Diplomatic Efforts
“The United States believes that all of these efforts will be facilitated by humanitarian pauses,” Mr Blinken said at a press conference in Jordan. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, has, however, ruled out the possibility of a truce in the current conflict. However, S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, called the state of conflict between Israel and Palestine “very complex” on Saturday.
Allegations of Strikes on UN Facilities
He stated that New Delhi is clear in its perspective of terrorism and vehemently defended India’s decision to abstain from voting on a UN resolution that demanded an urgent humanitarian ceasefire between the two parties. “To conclude, it is a very complex situation with many possibilities which are not fully apparent; possibilities, not in a good way,” he said.
