Israel Palestine War: Israel has increased its accusations that Hamas terrorists are utilising Al-Shifa, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, as their base. It claims that two foreign hostages were held there and that a soldier was executed while a prisoner. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) asserted in a video posted on X that the two hostages—a civilian from Thailand and a Nepalese—were abducted from Israel on October 7 during Hamas’ attack and brought to the Al-Shifa hospital.

“One of the hostages is injured and is being carried on a hospital bed and the other is walking,” the IDF said in the X post. Israel claimed that the surveillance footage demonstrated the hospital’s use as a “terrorist infrastructure” by Hamas terrorists. A 55-meter tunnel was found by Israeli forces during a “intelligence-based operation” 10 metres below the Al-Shifa hospital complex, according to another video.

The IDF claimed in an X post that the tunnel’s discovery validated their allegation that Hamas has been utilising hospital patients and Gazan citizens as “human shields”. Health officials reported that when Israeli tanks surrounded a hospital in north Gaza on Monday, they fired into the facility, killing at least 12 Palestinians and injuring dozens more. Health officials were hurriedly attempting to evacuate civilians when artillery fire hit the hospital in Beit Lahia, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
