In a major development, Israel has announced its first flight to UAE, which would be taking off on Monday. The El Al flight from Israel will land in Abu Dhabi, the officials said on Friday. The development comes after the two countries agreed to a peace pact deal brokered by US administration to normalize relations.
The confirmation has put a rest to Israel plans to annex land sought by the Palestinians. It has also indicated the beginning of a long-standing relationship between the two countries amid their mutual tension with Iran.
The deal will not only benefit their economies but will also strengthen their ties with the US administration who also share sour relationships with Iran after withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran in 2018.
-The new flight was listed by the Israel Airports Authority on Friday. It said the flight would be numbered LY971, a nod to the UAE’s international calling code number. The returning flight to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport will be numbered LY972, which is international calling code for Israel.
However, the flight was not immediately available for booking on Israel’s website.
Earlier, US officials have earlier said that the much-anticipated first flight will carry Americans officials led by President Donald Trump’s senior advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Emirati officials and the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi has not commented on the matter yet.
Meanwhile, Iran continues to oppsose the deal establishing full diplomati relations between UAE and Israel, saying it will lead to the adaptation of the western culture in the countires. It also called the move a “stab in the back to all Muslims.”
“The UAE government and other accompanying governments must accept responsibility for all the consequences of this action,” Iran said.
