US biotech firm Moderna’s official stated that they can’t available before November 25. The news brings a big blow to President Donald Trump’s hopes of getting vaccine ready before the Presidental election in order to give a much-needed boost to his campaign.
Stephane Bancel, CEO, Moderna said in a newspaper: “November 25 is the time we will have enough safety data to be able to put into an EUA file that we would send to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) — assuming that the safety data is good, i.e. a vaccine is deemed to be safe.”
Earlier Donald Trump assured that the vaccine will be ready before the elction date November 3. This also raised concern among experts of his campaign who may attempt to interfere in the regulatory process for many political reasons.
The Republican rival Joe Biden repeated Trump’s claim during the debate and criticized Trump’s administration.
“It’s a possibility that we’ll have the answer before November 1,” Biden said.
Moderna’s vaccine is in final stage trials, along with this it is also the 11 vaccine in that stage.
“For me, the election day is an artificial day. The end of October is an artificial day. This is how we operate. If we can bring it earlier, we will,” Biden said.
