The devastating 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck on Friday, resulting in numerous casualties and ongoing rescue efforts to locate survivors trapped beneath the rubble. Devastating earthquake in Morocco
The devastating earthquake struck in Marrakesh, a renowned tourist destination in the country. In the video, a subsequent scene shows people in a state of panic, with visible dust suggesting the collapse of a building. Currently, rescue operations are underway to locate individuals trapped under debris. The Home Ministry has reported a tragic toll, with at least 2,012 fatalities and 2,059 injuries, including 1,404 individuals in critical condition.
The earthquake’s epicenter in Al-Hawz province witnessed a devastating toll of 1,293 fatalities, while Taroudant province recorded 452 deaths, making them the hardest-hit regions. This earthquake stands as the most powerful ever experienced in the North African region, with experts noting that such a significant seismic event has not occurred in over 120 years.

In his opening speech at the G20 Summit, the Prime Minister emphasized global solidarity with the North African nation. He said, “Extremely pained by the loss of lives due to an earthquake in Morocco. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the people of Morocco. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. India is ready to offer all possible assistance to Morocco in this difficult time.”
