Hindus of Indian origin who supported India in the Nijjar killing row were threatened by a pro-Khalistani organisation with expulsion from Canada. Since 2019, India banned Sikhs for Justice. Gurpatwant Pannun, legal counsel for SFJ, appeared in a viral video demanding Indians to leave Canada.
A terrorist in India named Pannun was heard yelling, “Indo-Hindu leave Canada; go to India,” on the video. You not only support India, but you also back the repression of pro-Khalistan Sikhs’ speech and expression, according to the Hindustan Times.
The Khalistan Tiger Force leader, who was sought in India for a number of terrorist activities, was shot dead by two unknown assailants on June 18 outside a gurdwara in Surrey.
Justin Trudeau’s shocking claim
This followed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s shocking claim on Tuesday that a government agency in India was responsible for the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June of this year. India, on the other hand, called the allegations made by the Canadian government “absurd” and afterwards demanded that a Canadian ambassador leave the nation within the following five days.
The Canadian Hindus for Harmony expressed alarm over “full-scale Hinduphobia” everywhere following Pannun’s threat video, according to media. “We are worried that this may translate into the loss of Canadian Hindu lives as in 1985,” said Vijay Jain, a spokesperson of Canadian Hindus for Harmony as quoted by media.
Khalistani group in June 1985 that killed 307 passengers and 22 crew members
Jain cited the bombing by the Khalistani group in June 1985 that killed 307 passengers and 22 crew members aboard an Air India flight from Montreal to London to Delhi to Bombay. It was the worst terrorist strike in Canadian history. Anita Anand, a Canadian minister, urged restraint in response to the threat video.
The minister posted this on X, formerly known as Twitter “South Asians and families who come from India, regardless of religion, will share the sentiment that it was difficult to hear the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday. This is a time to let the legal process continue as it must. Let us all remain calm, unified, and empathetic.”
