North Korea: As he promoted hundreds of military commanders involved in the most recent launch of North Korea’s largest ballistic missile, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un declared that his nation’s ultimate objective is to have the most potent nuclear arsenal in the world, according to state media on Sunday.
The declaration comes after Kim, on November 18, committed to use nuclear weapons to deter nuclear threats from the United States while inspecting a test of the nation’s new Hwasong-17 ICBM.

Defending the state’s and the people’s honour and sovereignty
According to Kim’s order promoting the officers, developing the nuclear force is necessary for consistently defending the state’s and the people’s honour and sovereignty. “Its ultimate goal is to possess the world’s most powerful strategic force, the absolute force unprecedented in the century,” Kim said.
He referred to the Hwasong-17 as the “world’s strongest strategic weapon” and claimed that it showed North Korea’s commitment and capacity to eventually create the strongest army in the world.
Kim added, without going into further detail, that North Korean scientists have achieved “wonderful leap forward in the development of the technology of mounting nuclear warheads on ballistic missiles.”
While posing for pictures with the scientists, engineers, military personnel, and other test participants, Kim stated that he anticipates that they will continue to enhance and expand the nation’s nuclear deterrence at an incredibly fast rate.
These employees took an oath to the party in power, swearing to uphold the “total authority” of the party and Kim, as well as to direct their missiles “absolute authority” of the party and Kim, and vowing that “our missiles will fly vigorously only in the direction indicated” by him.

They said that Kim “carefully taught us one by one” while the Hwasong-17 was being developed.
The United States requested a presidential statement from the UN Security Council to hold North Korea responsible for its missile tests, which are forbidden by Security Council resolutions, after a missile launch that was capable of hitting the U.S. mainland.
According to a different statement from KCNA, which used the acronym DPRK—North Korea’s official name—the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly gave the Hwasong-17 missile the honorary titles of “DPRK Hero and Gold Star Medal and Order of National Flag 1st Class.”
KCNA said, “(The missile) clearly proved before the world that the DPRK is a full-fledged nuclear power capable of standing against the nuclear supremacy of the U.S. imperialists and fully demonstrated its might as the most powerful ICBM state.”
According to the report, the test fire showed that North Korea will respond similarly to “the enemy’s nuke and full-frontal confrontation.”
