Imran Khan: Islamabad Police have arrived at former PM Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore to arrest him in the Toshakhana case, reported Pak media. This comes days after a sessions court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Khan as he repeatedly failed to appear before the court.
Non-bailable arrest warrant
Geo News said additional sessions judge Zafar Iqbal had earlier issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief on February 28. Geo News cited sources to say that Islamabad police are in Lahore to arrest Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has appealed to all party workers to reach Imran Khan’s residence immediately to prevent the arrest.
Once all the legal requirements are fulfilled, Khan will be arrested, Geo News further added.
Fawad Chaudhry warns police
PTI senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry reacted to the reports of action by the police and warned that a worsening situation would arise in the country if the government takes any action against the former prime minister, said Geo News in its report.
“Any attempt to arrest Imran Khan will seriously worsen the situation, I want to warn this incompetent and anti-Pakistan government not to push Pakistan into further crisis and act sensibly,” said Fawad, as quoted by Geo News.
Imran Khan is accused of unlawfully selling gifts that he received as the premier from the state depository called Toshakhana.
