Pakistan Chicken price: Inflation in Pakistan continue to rise to its highest point since 1975. This has caused a hole in the pocket of general public. The cost of live broiler chicken has climbed by Rs 30–40 per kg during the past two days, bringing the price to Rs 480–500 per kg.
Amid the soaring prices, Federal Food Security Minister Tariq Bashir Cheema has urged people to stop eating chicken. The Pakistan Poultry Association took offence to his comments and warned that the cost per kg may rise more as a result of various factors.
The cost of chicken has risen by almost Rs 300 per kg over the past month. According to a BBC report, chicken costs were between Rs 440 and Rs 480 per kg a few days ago, but they are currently between Rs 650 and Rs 700 per kg.
Chicken prices in major cities
According to the Pakistani media report, the price of chicken has also reached an all-time high in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and some other cities. Here poultry meat is being sold at Rs 700 to 705 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat in Lahore, the country’s second most populous city, is ruling between Rs 550-600 per kg. These rising prices are a cause for concern for many consumers, who rely on chicken as their main source of protein.
