Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Gujarat ATS have apprehended a Pakistani boat that entered Indian waters. It is reported to have seized 40 kg heroin worth Rs 200 crore. The Pakistani crew of the boat and the boat are being brought to Jakhoo for further investigation and action.
The ICG surveillance team nabbed the boat 33 nautical miles from Jakhu coast. They were caught by the fast attack boats of the ICG. Six crew members have been arrested. A senior ATS official said on Wednesday that 40 kg of heroin worth Rs 200 crore has been seized from a Pakistani fishing boat in the Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast.
The fishing boat carrying the drugs was intercepted by a joint team of Coast Guard and ATS near Jakhu port in Kutch district in the middle of the sea, the ATS official said. After unloading the confiscated heroin from the Gujarat coast, Punjab by road. was to be carried. He said that on the basis of a specific information, we intercepted the boat leaving from Pakistan and caught six Pakistani nationals with 40 kg of heroin. The officers of ATS and Coast Guard along with the seized boat are likely to reach Jakhoo beach later in the day.
In the past also a large consignment of narcotics has been caught off the coast of Gujarat. Some foreign nationals were caught with huge quantities of narcotics. They had planned to smuggle them into India through the Gujarat coast.
