Priyanka Chopra: UN The actor-producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas stated that “a just, safe, and healthy planet” is a right of every person and may become a reality with global solidarity since just eight years are left to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The “Quantico” star discussed some of the most urgent global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and poverty, during her attendance at the 2022 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment opening comments at the United Nations General Assembly.

We come together today at a critical moment and at a time when international cooperation is more crucial than ever.

In the speech posted by the U.N. on YouTube on Monday, Ms. Priyanka said, “Countries continue to struggle from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the climate crisis appends lives and livelihoods, as conflicts rage, and as poverty displacement, hunger, and inequalities destroy the very foundation of the more just world that we have fought for such a long time.”
“All is not well with our globe,” declared the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

These crises weren’t accidents, but they can be resolved with a strategy. The U.N. Sustainable Development Goals are that strategy; they are a global to-do list.

Together, we have a unique opportunity to improve the world in which we live, she said. “These goals were formed hand in hand with people around the world in 2015,” she said.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which outlined a 15-year strategy to accomplish the Goals, was accepted by all U.N. Member States in 2015 and included the 17 Goals.

The future of the world, Ms. Priyanka stressed, is “in our hands” as the deadline for achieving the SDGs is drawing near.

“We owe it to our earth and to our people. We all deserve to live in a just, secure, and healthy world. But the clock is ticking. The deadline of 2030 has almost been reached for achieving these objectives.

“In this room of our representatives are the very people who signed up for those goals in 2015, leaders who can help us all make that plan a reality. Therefore, today is about taking action, having ambition, and having optimism. The 40-year-old actor talked about what everyone must do in order to make the SDGs a reality.
