Donald Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his decision, expressing excitement about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s appointment. In his statement, Trump highlighted his commitment to protecting Americans from harmful substances, including chemicals, pollutants, and food additives. Health Experts Express Concern Over the Appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

However, many health experts are alarmed by the decision. Dr. Ashwin Vasan, former commissioner of New York City’s Department of Health, voiced strong opposition. On X, he criticized Kennedy’s appointment, calling it a mistake. He stated that someone with “wrongheaded ideas about science, medicine, and health” would only make Americans less healthy and less safe.

Drew Altman, President and CEO of the non-profit organization KFF, raised concerns about Kennedy’s ability to lead vital health programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Altman questioned whether Kennedy, who has expressed controversial views, could lead a comprehensive health agenda.

Senator Patty Murray, an advocate for healthcare and women’s rights, also voiced her concerns. She described the appointment as “dangerous” and warned that Kennedy’s views could set America back in terms of public health, research, and reproductive rights. She emphasized that these were not hypothetical issues, but matters of life and death.

His stance on vaccines has been widely criticised by the medical community, as scientific studies have repeatedly debunked the vaccine-autism myth. Kennedy has also opposed COVID-19 regulations and mandates from both state and federal governments.

Kennedy is also known for his advocacy against food additives and chemicals, calling for a ban on substances he believes harm public health. He has voiced support for removing ultra-processed foods from school lunches and eliminating fluoride from public water. His views on these issues align with his broader focus on limiting corporate influence over public health policies.
