A woman named Gurvinder Kaur, hailing from Sangrur, recently appeared in a video where she was visibly upset and seeking assistance to return home from Malaysia. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Sunday that her return is imminent.
Punjab Chief Minister To Facilitates Return of Sangrur Woman Exploited in Malaysia
Gurvinder Kaur, who resides in Adakwas village in Sangrur, shared her story on social media. She explained that about a month ago, she went to Malaysia with hopes of finding better opportunities. However, she fell victim to a deceitful travel agent.
In the video, Kaur revealed that she had been promised a job at a salon in Malaysia but was subjected to mistreatment and harassment during her time there.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann became aware of the situation and took action by involving the central government. Through persistent efforts, Mann’s administration managed to raise the issue with the Malaysian government, with support from the Indian authorities. As a result, Gurvinder Kaur was able to establish communication with the Indian embassy. Thanks to the combined endeavors of the state and central governments, the woman’s plight seems to be coming to an end as she prepares to return home.
