Russia-Ukraine War: According to sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday that Russia wants the crisis in Ukraine to end quickly and that violence should stop as soon as feasible. Notably, it happened at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country wanted the conflict to finish quickly.
In remarks to journalists, Putin stated, “Our goal is to end this conflict. We are striving for this and will continue to strive. So we will seek to make sure that it all ends, and the sooner, the better.”
“All conflicts end, some way or another, with talks… The faster our adversaries (in Kyiv) understand that, the better it will be,” he continued.
According to reports, John Kirby, a spokesperson for the White House, asserted that Putin has “given absolutely nothing sign that he is eager to engage” to put an end to the conflict that started on February 24 with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Quite the contrary, everything he (Putin) is doing on the ground and in the air bespeaks a man who wants to continue to visit violence upon the Ukrainian people (and) escalate the war,” according to Kirby, who stated the opposite to reporters at an online briefing.

A diplomatic resolution would be required for a swift resolution of the Ukrainian issue, according to Putin.
The Russian President asserted that, in contrast to John Kirby’s assertions, a swift resolution of the Ukrainian conflict would unavoidably necessitate diplomatic action. Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia is willing to engage in talks. According to insiders, Ukraine and its allies believe it is a Moscow tactic to buy time following a string of Russian setbacks and retreats.
Putin told reporters, “I have said many times: the intensification of hostilities leads to unjustified losses.”
Putin remarked, “All armed conflicts end one way or another with some negotiations on the diplomatic track. Sooner or later, any parties in a state of conflict sit down and make an agreement. The sooner this realization comes to those who oppose us, the better. We have never given up on this.”
The return of Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Ukraine
While this was going on, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy travelled to Washington for his first trip outside of his country since Russia invaded its neighbour, feeling encouraged by President Joe Biden’s support.
As part of a larger US government funding measure, the US Congress came closer on Thursday to authorising an additional USD 44.9 billion in emergency military and economic assistance. This is in addition to the roughly USD 50 billion already given to Ukraine this year, sources claim. According to sources, the Biden administration announced new military aid for Ukraine for USD 1.85 billion, including the Patriot system.
