Russian Civil War: The infighting in Russia between Wagner group and Russian armed forces can have major impact on the situation in Ukraine. The United States and its allies are closely monitoring situation as prospect of realigning strategy in Ukraine can arise as internal conflict in Russia has seriously escalated. EU High Representative for Foreign affairs Josep Borrell confirmed a call between G7 ministers via tweet “Had a call with G7 Foreign Ministers to exchange views on the situation in Russia. Ahead of Monday’s EU Foreign Affairs Council, I am coordinating inside the European Union and have activated the crisis response centre.” He also added that support to Ukraine remains persistent.
‘Russia’s weakness is obvious’ Zelensky reacts on Mutiny
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that an armed mutiny inside Russia is a very clear sign of inherent political instability in the Russian Federation. In a social media statement he said “Russia’s weakness is obvious. Full-scale weakness. And the longer Russia keeps its troops and mercenaries on our land, the more chaos, pain, and problems it will have for itself later.” The internal conflict in Russia is being cited as biggest threat to Russia since Putin took the reins of administration in 2000. Ukrainian President also stated that Putin threw hundreds into conflict and barricaded himself in Moscow from from those whom he himself armed. Meanwhile Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan has voiced full support for Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call between two leaders. Turkey is a member nation of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Russian Army responds to Wagner threat
As the military installations in Rostov and Voronezh were overrun by the Wagner without much resistance, Russian military has responded with artillery strikes against Wagner positions. Iran has meanwhile voiced support for rule of law in Russian Federation. Earlier on Saturday, Russian Air Force Ka-52 Alligator Attack Helicopter bombed the Oil Refinery and Depot in Voronezh in order to prevent its capture by Wagner forces. Yevgeny Prigozhin after Wagner capturing= military offices in Voronezh stated that he will blockade Rostov and march on Moscow if Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and General Oleg Salyukov did not meet with him in the city.
