Saudi King Salman to Undergo Treatment for Lung Inflammation; How Serious Can it Get?

King Salman of Saudi Arabia, who is eighty-eight, will get treatment at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah for inflammation of the lungs. The king will be given antibiotics until the inflammation goes down, the official news agency said on Sunday, following his medical examinations. Sometimes, this can become a very serious issue that has to be treated with early and thorough medical treatment.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Postpones Japan Visit

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has rescheduled his trip to Japan because of King Salman’s health. Meetings with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida were part of the itinerary for the journey, which was set to begin on May 20. Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, announced the postponement and attributed it on the king’s sickness.

Recent Health Concerns for King Salman

Due to a high fever and joint discomfort, King Salman had medical testing earlier on Sunday at the royal clinics in Al Salam Palace. This comes after a recent check-up at the hospital in April.

Following more than 2.5 years as deputy premier and crown prince, King Salman took the throne in 2015. His health is monitored constantly as he is in charge of the world’s largest oil exporter and the keeper of the holiest places in Islam.
