Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Friday expressed concern over the terror attack reported in Boulder, Colorado. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tharoor, who is currently leading a delegation of Indian MPs abroad, shared a message of solidarity and condemnation.

'Share the Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s View': Shashi Tharoor Condemns Colorado Attack

“Members of the Indian MPs’ delegation learned with concern about the terror attack in Boulder, Colorado today. We are relieved there was no loss of life,” Tharoor posted.

Congress MP Echoed US Secretary

The Congress MP echoed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s stance on the incident, stating, “We all share the Secretary of State @SecRubio’s view that ‘terror has no place’ in our countries.”

The Indian parliamentary delegation, currently in Brazil, is scheduled to travel to the United States tomorrow as part of their ongoing diplomatic visit. Their itinerary includes engagements with lawmakers and policy experts in Washington D.C. and New York, where counter-terrorism cooperation and bilateral security issues are expected to feature prominently.

Officials familiar with the delegation's agenda noted that India is keen to strengthen dialogue with both American legislators and the Indian diaspora on the shared global threat of extremism. The Colorado incident, though without casualties, has reignited discussions on the need for tighter security mechanisms and collaborative intelligence sharing between friendly nations.

Tharoor's condemnation aligns with India’s consistent zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, a stance reiterated time and again in bilateral forums, the United Nations, and multilateral platforms like the G20. His statement also mirrors India's ongoing efforts to push for a comprehensive global convention on terrorism at the international level.

Meanwhile, US officials have beefed up security measures across public places in Boulder and nearby areas. The motive behind the attack is under investigation, and federal agencies are involved in collecting intelligence and leads.

The Indian Embassy in Washington D.C. is also monitoring the developments closely and has issued a general advisory to Indian nationals in the vicinity to remain alert and follow local authorities’ guidance.

This incident, though not resulting in fatalities, serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of terror threats and the urgent need for global democracies to remain united in their condemnation and response.
