The extremism of the Khalistani movement and “foreign interference” were topics that were discussed during the meeting between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to statements made by Trudeau on Sunday.
Trudeau’s comments are in opposition to the rise of Khalistani activities in Canada and the nation’s accommodating attitude towards the extremist elements.
Discussed both of those topics extensively
“Both problems surfaced. We have discussed both of those topics extensively over the years with PM Modi, he responded in response to a question at a press conference.
He said speaking about Khalistani protests that “Canada would always defend freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, and freedom of peaceful protest” and they were extremely important for that country. However, he further said, “We are always there to prevent violence and to push back against hatred”
