The bomb blast in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday afternoon was carried out by a woman terrorist. Turkish police have ascertained that the woman is from Syria. The attack was carried out by the terrorist organization Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
Syrian woman arrested for planting a bomb in Istanbul
Six people were killed and 81 were injured in an explosion on Istiklal Avenue in central Istanbul on Sunday. Turkish police said on Monday they had arrested a Syrian woman for planting a bomb in Istanbul. She was working for Kurdish terrorists. According to the police, the woman is from Syria. She was ordered to carry out the attack by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The Kurdistan Workers’ Party has been listed as a terrorist group by Turkey and its western allies.
Woman sitting on bench for 40 minutes
The woman arrested by the police sat for 40 minutes on a bench on Istiklal Avenue, the site of the blast. Only pedestrians are allowed on this road. There is a lot of movement of tourists here. Benches have been placed on the side of the road for people to take rest. The woman had planted the bomb and left just before the blast. Two men helped her.
Turkish police have detained 21 more suspects in the bomb blast case. Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay has said that it is suspected that a female terrorist carried out the bombing. So far no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast. Turkey’s Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said a woman was seen sitting on a bench for about 40 minutes. She had left minutes before the explosion. Two male attackers are also associated with the woman.
