Keeping up with modern lingo is not the easiest task, even for young people themselves! It seems like the youth is creating a language of their own. This is the same disorienting feeling a teacher felt when her students started calling her “GOAT”.
This eighth-grade maths teacher found herself being compared to what she thought, was a farm animal. Confused as to what the context was, she turned to the internet for answers: and her sweet reaction has gone viral.
The teacher shared a post on Reddit and explained the context of her situation, asking for help understanding what her students meant. She said that her students called her goat, and it was a running joke that she partook in, but didn’t necessarily understand.
“Throughout this whole past school year, there was this running joke where the students would call me the goat. And I would reply each time that they were goats and they would all laugh. It was pretty funny, to be honest, and I never gave it much thought. But I realized that I had been partaking in a joke that I never actually got. I had a good connection with them, and they are all really good kids, so I don’t really think that they were making fun of me,” she wrote in her original post. “Can someone (maybe an 8th grader) explain this joke to me?” the teacher added.
The adorably clueless teacher’s post went viral, with tons of replies from Reddit users, explaining that GOAT means Greatest Of All Time.
The teacher was naturally ecstatic after learning about the heartwarming compliment. She edited her original post and her sweet reaction upon realising won hearts on the internet.
