PM Modi’s France Visit: India’s Ambassador to France Jawed Ashraf has expressed great positivity over PM Narendra Modi’s visit to France this week. PM Modi will be the guest of honor for Bastille Day Parade on 14th of July. A tri-services contingent of Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy will also participate in the parade. Indian Rafale aircraftss will fly alongside French Rafale over the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris. The visit will aslo mark 25 years celebration of Indo-French strategic partnership. Ashraf said “It is also a time to look ahead with greater confidence, optimism and ambition. It is a partnership that has seen the sweeping changes that are taking place in the world and has become far more salient than before. It is not just important for our two countries but it’s also vital for the Indo-Pacific region and also has a strong global impact.”
‘The sky is the limit’
The ambassador talked about strong and understanding relationship between PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. “PM Modi and French President Macron have an extremely strong relationship” he said.
Ambassador Ashraf also mentioned that both countries have reached level of enhanced cooperation in the technology arena. He also mentioned about high level of trust between both the countries. “The sky is the limit on how much we can work together. India and France share the view of reinvigorating our own industries, to build economies self-reliant on technologies,” he further added.
He also mentioned enormous opportunities for cooperation in sensitive areas. Both the countries support each other at international platforms. He also talked about French companies optimism over India to become an integral part of global supply chain. Ashraf also mentioned that as a permanent member of United Nations Security Council, France has always shown cooperation towards India.
“Speaking of security and defence, our relations with France are incomparable with any other nation in terms of military exercises, intelligence cooperation, regional activities or defence equipment,” Ashraf added.
Indo-Pacific
France possess one of the most active Navies in the world. Despite decline of its imperial footprint in Asia and Africa, France still maintains naval bases around the world. After only the United States, France is strong supprter of India’ centrality in the Indo Pacific region. France and India have boosted naval cooperation in Indian Ocean littorals like Seychelles, Madagascar and Comoros. The two countries particiate in several naval excercises in the Indian Ocean. Ambassador Ashraf said “Indo-Pacific has become a key point for the future of the world. France has its own territories in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. In a way, it is a permanent power in the Indo-Pacific. It is a special friend and a special partner to India. When we speak about Indo-Pacific and the future when we speak of security, environment, prosperity and our relation with France plays a huge role.”
