Titan Submersible: The Pakistani origin teen Suleman Dawood who perished in a ‘catastrophic implosion’ of Titan Submersible with his father and 3 other passengers had hoped to break a Rubik’s cube world record. The 19 year old had brought his Rubik’s while his dad grabbed a camera onboard as they boarded the doomed submersible. The information was relayed by Suleman’s grieving mother Christine Dawood to BBC in her first interview since the accident “He said, ‘I’m going to solve the Rubik’s Cube 3,700 meters below sea at the Titanic,’” she told the news outlet.
“I stepped back because Suleman really wanted to go”
Christine Dawood revealed that originally that she and her husband had planned to undertake submarine exploration but they couldn’t go ahead with their plans because of COVID-19 pandemic. When the opportunity arose again she let her son go instead. “Then I stepped back and gave them space to set (Suleman) up because he really wanted to go,” Christine said. She also said that her son was able to solve the Rubik cube under 20 seconds and carried it with him everywhere. She and her 17-year-old daughter Alina were on the mothership that launched the Titan submersible underwater to explore the wreckage of RMS Titanic.
