United States President Donald Trump on Sunday questioned mental health of his Democratic challenger for the November Election, Joe Biden.
He also accused him of being under the influence of drug citing his previous performances in debates.
Trump demanded Biden to take a drug test before or after their debate which is scheduled for Tuesday this week.
“I will be strongly demanding a Drug Test of Sleepy Joe Biden prior to, or after, the Debate on Tuesday night,” Trump tweeted.
“Naturally, I will agree to take one also. His Debate performances have been record setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy???” he added.
The high voltage debate on Tuesday will be moderated by Fox News reporter Chris Wallace among a very small audience as a precautionary measure due to covid-19.
Trump’s constant attack on Biden’s mental acuity:
In the past few weeks, Trump has aggressively targeted Biden saying that the former vice president is suffering from ill mental state. He also may be using unspecified drugs to boost his performance.
Trump did not present any evidence to support his claims, continuing his blatant criticism against Biden.
Last month, Trump said, “I mean, you saw some of those debates with the large number of people on the stage. He was — I mean, I used to say, ‘How is it possible that he can even go forward?'”
“Frankly, his best performance was against Bernie. We’re going to call for a drug test, by the way, because his best performance was against Bernie.”
On Saturday, Biden said he expects “personal attacks and lies” from Trump ahead of the debate.
“But it was a normal, boring debate. You know, nothing amazing happened. If you go back and watch some of those numerous debates, he was so bad. He wasn’t even coherent. And against Bernie, he was,” Trump added.
Biden’s response to Trump’s accusations:
Biden, meanwhile, has brushed aside the claims. But he is yet to comment on Trump’s latest claims.
Earlier, in an interview with ABC News, Biden had said, “What we say, what we do, what we control, what we know, what kind of shape we’re in. Come on.” He also said it is a genuine concern to question his mental state due to him being a presidential candidate.
Biden is currently maintaining a 7-percentage-point lead over Trump, according to the Real Clear Politics web site.
If Biden succeeds in his political campaign, Trump will be the third U.S. president in the last four decades to lose a bid for reelection to a second four-year term.
