Turkey President Erdogan Declares State Of Emergency, Here’s Detail

The severe earthquakes that occurred in Turkey on Monday shook everyone. Earthquake has killed more than 6200 people in Turkey and Syria so far while more than 8000 people have been rescued in Turkey. It is being said that there have been more than 550 earthquakes in the last two days.

The horrifying scene of devastation everywhere in the country is telling the story of this tragedy. In such a situation, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared emergency for three months in 10 provinces affected by the earthquake. Along with this, the government has also announced to keep all schools closed till 13 February.

70 countries including India are helping

70 countries including India and 14 international organizations have extended a helping hand to Turkey, which is facing the brunt of the earthquake. Government of India has directed deployment of 2 USAR teams comprising 101 personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Ghaziabad and Kolkata base to carry out rescue and relief operations in the affected areas of Turkey.

NDRF says that with this a team of 51 rescuers flew to Turkey this morning with equipment and reached Turkey. Another team consisting of 50 personnel has also left for Turkey.

Apart from this, Qatar is going to send 10,000 container houses to help earthquake-hit Turkey. Turkey has also prepared 10,000 containers to be used as shelters, which are being sent to earthquake-affected areas. 54000 tents and 102,000 beds have been sent to the earthquake affected areas. All government buildings will be able to be used for earthquake victims shelter. 50,000 relief workers have been deployed in these areas.

People who could never wake up from sleep

Many cities of Turkey and Syria came under the grip of earthquake in the early hours of Monday. The tremors of the earthquake were so strong that the buildings collapsed like a pack of cards. There has been widespread damage in Turkey and Syria. The first tremor of the earthquake came at 4.17 in the morning when most of the people were sleeping in their homes. In such a situation, when the earthquake happened and the buildings collapsed, they did not get any chance to save their lives. Buildings collapsed in a jiffy and people sleeping in their homes were buried under the debris.
