Just days after the world’s richest man Elon Musk took over the reins of Twitter, the company has fired more than half of its employees. Most of these employees are either Indian or of Indian origin. In the midst of this action, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has publicly apologized.
Dorsey said in a tweet, “The people who work at Twitter, both past and present, are extremely talented. They will always find a way, no matter how hard the times. I realize that many people are angry with me. I agree that everyone is in this situation because of me. I have grown the size of this company too soon, for that I sincerely apologize.”
Twitter has started laying off employees in India. The new owner of the social media platform, Elon Musk, has ordered global layoffs to make the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter inevitable and save the company from the impact of the recession.
According to the information, Twitter has fired most of its employees in India. Prior to this layoff, the company had more than 200 employees working in India. In the meantime, several people in the top management have resigned.
There have been layoffs in the engineering, sales, marketing and communications teams. However, it is not clear how much has been paid as compensation to the fired workers in India. It is also being said that the entire Marketing and Communication Department in India has been dismissed.
Meanwhile, Musk has blamed activists for the loss in the company’s earnings. He tweeted that the activist group had put huge pressure on advertisers, causing a huge loss to Twitter’s revenue. Even monitoring the content didn’t change anything. We did everything for the activist to do it himself. They are trying to crush the freedom of expression in America.
