British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was administered the covid-19 vaccine on Friday. The Prime Minister received his first shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Notably, the development comes after World Health Organization called the vaccine candidate safe and effective.
Over the past few months, the efficacy and safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine that it has developed with Oxford University have been questioned after it triggered some adverse events. Some European countries even put a break on the AstraZeneca vaccine administration deeming that it wasn’t safe to use. However, after multiple assurance from Health authorities, the vaccination process with AstraZeneca has resumed.
Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has been swearing by AstraZeneca’s safety for quite some time now. Multiple times, he had assured his citizens that the vaccine candidate is absolutely safe to use, ridiculing the rumours that it may led to blood clotting.
The UK Prime Minister was administerd the vaccine at St Thomas hospital in London.
“I literally did not feel a thing. It was very good, very quick,” Johnson said after receiving the injection at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
“I cannot recommend it too highly, everybody when you do get your notification to go for a jab, please go and get it, it is the best thing for you, best thing for your family and for everyone else.”
