Texas: In a horrifying incident an Airport worker in US State of Texas has died at San Antonio International Airport in Texas after getting ingested into an engine on Friday. The accident happened when a Delta Air Lines flight that had arrived in San Antonio from Los Angeles was taxiing to an arrival gate around 10.25 pm(CDT). As per the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the unnamed employee, was “ingested” into an engine at San Antonio International Airport. The board is in contact with the Delta airline based in Atlanta. The airline has expressed grief by stating that they’re ‘heartbroken’ over loss of a member from ‘aviation family.’
Identity of worker has not been revealed
The airport worker was employed at Unifi Aviation, a firm contracted by various airlines for assistance with handling of ground operations. In a statement to local media outlet KENS5 the company said that they’re “deeply saddened by the loss of our employee at San Antonio International Airport during a tragic incident in the late hours of Friday, June 23, 2023.” Delta Airlines also put out a statement expressing sorrow over death of Unifi Aviation employee’s tragic demise “Our hearts and full support are with their family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Investigation
The US authorities have stated that they’re conducting investigation into Sunday’s incident at San Antonio International Airport. Unifi Aviation has stated “From our initial investigation, this incident was unrelated to Unifi’s operational processes, safety procedures and policies. Out of respect for the deceased, we will not be sharing any additional information.” Citing an anonymous source, The Guardian reported that it appeared the worker “intentionally stepped in front of the live engine”. The report further stated that the police is investigating the incident from this angel as well.
