The attack by “Hamas terrorists” against Israel was “unequivocally” condemned by the United States, according to a statement from the White House. According to the statement, national security adviser Jake Sullivan was in frequent contact with Israeli allies throughout the operation.
“The United States unequivocally condemns the unprovoked attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli civilians,” statement said, further adding, “We stand firmly with the Government and people of Israel and extend our condolences for the Israeli lives lost in these attacks.”
Pentagon reaffirmed the US:
The Pentagon reaffirmed the US’ “unwavering” support for Israel’s right to self-defense and committed to take all necessary measures to ensure that the important US partner has the resources to do so.
“Our commitment to Israel’s right to defend itself remains unwavering,” US defense secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement, adding that the Pentagon would work ” to guarantee that Israel has the resources required for self-defense and to safeguard civilians against terrorism and indiscriminate violence.
We are at war and we will win:
“We are at war and we will win,” he said, adding, “Not an ‘operation,’ not a ‘round,’ but at war.” Ordering a call-up of reservists, the Israel PM promised that Hamas would “pay a price that it hasn’t known until now.” He also ordered the country’s military to clear the infiltrated towns of Hamas militants that remained locked in gunfights with Israeli soldiers.
In a surprise strike that included gunmen crossing into multiple Israeli cities and a heavy attack of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian organisation Hamas conducted the worst attack on Israel in years. Israel declared itself to be in a state of war and launched its own attacks against Hamas sites in Gaza.

How many people have been killed in the attacks?
According to Israel’s national rescue agency, a massive Hamas attack into Israel has resulted in at least 40 fatalities. As battle was still going on, the most recent death toll was announced by the Magen David Adom rescue organisation, according to the Associated Press.
At least nine people were confirmed dead in Gaza, according to AFP, while hundreds of wounded patients are being treated in Israeli hospitals, including dozens who are in severe condition.
