US: A couple, both aged 100, married for 79 years passed away barely hours apart in the same hospital. In their nearly eight decades of marriage, June and Hubert Malicote of Ohio, the US, produced three children, as well as seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The day after Thanksgiving, according to their son Sam, 76, his mother developed a terrible illness and was moved to the Hospice of Hamilton in Ohio for end-of-life care.
This upset his father, who, according to Sam, “broke down” after witnessing the decline of his loving wife’s health.
Soon after, Hubert was also admitted in the hospice.
Sam said, “He fell apart, really.”
The husband and wife even shared a room at the hospice when they were both comatose for five days.
Hubert tragically passed away in his sleep on November 30 at about 9 p.m.and according to his son Sam, the cause was a “broken heart.”
And on December 1 at about 6 p.m., just 20 hours later, June went away.
They went out together, Sam said. “Who can expect to live a life like that? I feel sorry, but I shouldn’t.
They shared a long and fulfilling life together and were devoted to their family and to God.
The couple first met in 1941 during a church service in Kentucky, and Hubert proposed to June a year later when he was 20 years old.
When Hubert proposed to June, then 20 years old, he was on leave from the US Navy.
When I first saw her, I told Local 12 that she would be a good one.

Even at the hospital, the two shared a room.
Following his discharge from the US Navy, Hubert and his partner settled in Hamilton, Ohio, where he began working for Diebold Inc., a technology company.
After having three kids, June started staying at home with them.
Hubert told WLWT that she was a great stay-at-home mother who made the daughters’ clothing, had a sizable garden, canned, and conserved food.
In addition, they had 11 great-grandchildren and 7 grandkids.
A great life that everyone wishes for
When June and Hubert got married, they were only 20 years old.
After celebrating 79 years of marriage in June of this year, the couple shared their marriage secrets, which included never fighting.
He stated: “We didn’t go through life without problems, but we would never do anything to hurt each other.
“If there is a dispute, you might need to take a short break. Then you return and either change the topic or resolve it.”
June continued, “We haven’t had a fight.”
When Hubert returned from serving in the US Navy, he proposed to June.
Hubert advised putting the other person’s needs ahead of one’s own emotions.
“You never want to hurt the one you love. Put them first, above your own feelings. If you have difficulties, work them out. I would say don’t go to bed mad.”
The couple admitted they enjoyed spending time together, eating dinner together every night, and watching western movies.
When the kids were smaller, Hubert and his wife were content to spend time at the table conversing about their days.
“We’ve lived a great life.”
