With just one day left for the presidential election, US health experts have slammed Donald Trump over his ‘covid-19 vaccine would be available before November 3’ jibe.
Over the last few months, Trump and other White House advisors have repeatedly emphasised that hundreds of millions of covid-19 vaccine doses would be ready for public use by Election Day.
However, US top health authorities including director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has said that promising vaccine was nothing but just another false campaign promise.
Even on October 22, during the final presidential debate, US President had said that a covid-19 vaccine will be announced within weeks to combat the covid-19 disease.
“This has been a worldwide problem, but I’ve been congratulated by many countries on what we’ve been able to do,” he had said. ‘We have a vaccine that’s coming, it’s ready. It’s going to be announced within weeks and it’s going to be delivered,” he had said.
Meanwhile, his democratic rival, Joe Biden has said that Trump has no plan.
“He always says people are learning to live with it. People are learning to die with it,” he said. “I will take care of this. I will make sure we have a plan,” the former vice president said.
As of now, more than 91 million registered voters have already cast their votes while Joe Biden and Donald Trump continue their campaigns to woo last few voters.
Meanwhile, US is currently grappling with covid-19 peak as it continues to record over 90,000 cases in a single day. In a recent study, researchers have cited that by Feb 2021, the US would have over 4 lakh people dead owing to covid-19 infection. As of now, 236, 473 people have died due to the novel virus in the country.
