The US President Donald Trump appeared before his supporters at White House, on Saturday, in a public gathering for the first time since his covid-19 diagnosis. The event which was a peaceful protests, appeared much like a Trump campaign for the upcoming presidential election.
Trump, addressing the audience, said that he is feeling great and is no longer taking any medicines for the covid treatment.
He took his mask when he started talking about his democratic rival Joe Biden who is currenly codnucting his presidentail campaign in Pennsylvania. “Beyond socialism – Communist, that’s about right,” he said while talking about Joe Biden.
The President included many key point such as economy, the border wall and postal voting. He also said that coronavirus was disappearing slowly.
Meanwhile, quesions over safty were raised after the Saturday gathering. Top US infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci described it as “a super-spreader event”.
While the White House had in advance announced that everyone attending Saturday event would be following covid-19 guidelines, stills from event showed several hundred people packed together, ditching social distancing.
Democratic nominee Joe Biden expressed disbelief over president’s plan to conduct a rally. He also criticised the Trump administration for thrashing the covid-19 guidelines.
“I wouldn’t show up unless you have a mask and can distance,” Biden said on Friday.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s physician has said that US president is no longer contagious. In a statement released on Saturday, Dr Sean Colney said that he is no longer considered a risk to others.
“I am happy to report that in addition to the President meeting CDC criteria for the safe discontinuation of isolation, this morning’s Covid PCR sample demonstrates, by currently recognized standards, he is no longer considered a transmission risk to others,” he said.
Conley further said, “Trump’s viral load was decreasing and he is fever-free. The symptoms have improved.” He did not state that the president was Covid-free.
Trump had contracted the virus last week and spent 3 days in the military hospital for covid care.
