New Delhi: Ned Price, a spokesman for the State Department, said on Thursday that the United States favours an open dialogue and substantive discussion between India and Pakistan. The US official emphasised that Pakistan and India should decide on the format of that meeting. “We are in favour of productive discussion. To settle their long-standing differences, India and Pakistan should engage in diplomatic relations. We are a partner, and we are prepared to assist them in any way they see fit during that process “The official from the Biden administration stated.
US supports open dialogue between India and Pakistan
Ned Price refused to accept the US’s mediation role in discussions between India and Pakistan, saying that eventually, India and Pakistan would have to make these decisions. Why can’t the US, with all of its might and influence, arbitrate negotiations between Pakistan and India, Price was questioned. He stated: “Because the nations themselves must decide these matters. As a partner to both nations, the US is ready to support that process in any way we can responsibly if they agree on a specific role for the United States.”

Diplomacy urged to settle long-standing India-Pakistan differences
Ned Price continued, “In the end, it is not for the United States to decide the procedures or the manner in which India and Pakistan engage one another. The announcement follows a report from US intelligence the previous day that claimed India is more likely to use military force in response to “serious Pakistani provocation” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since Pakistan has a long history of sponsoring anti-India militant groups. Kashmir and the cross-border terrorism that comes from Pakistan have frequently strained relations between India and Pakistan.
